Woman accused of preparing to have sex with 14-year-old
A Norman woman is accused of proposing and preparing to have sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy, according to documents filed Thursday in Cleveland County District Court.
Krista Danielle Hooper, 30, was charged with making an indecent proposal to a child; and lewd molestation of a minor.
According to police, Hooper and the victim were discovered Saturday by the boy's father "partially naked" and "about to engage in sexual intercourse."
Other felonies filed recently include:
Jerry Don Ramsey, 20, Oklahoma City, knowingly concealing stolen property;
Jason Nathaniel Hudgins, 20, Norman, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute;
Grant Ryan Burnett, 20, Oklahoma City, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
Perkins receives USC achievement award
Ambassador Edward Perkins, William J. Crowe professor of geopolitics, executive director of the International Programs Center and senior vice provost for International Programs at the University of Oklahoma, has been named as the recipient of the University of Southern California's 2006 Asa V. Call Achievement Award, presented to one USC alumnus each year.
Noting that past recipients have included filmmaker George Lucas, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Charles Bolden, and former Secretary of State Warren Christopher, USC President Steven B. Sample in his letter to Perkins wrote, "I can't think of anyone more deserving of joining their distinguished company. Your service to your country and the inspiring contributions that you have made as a U.S. ambassador, career foreign service officer, author and educator made you the unanimous choice of the Alumni Awards Selection Committee for this signal recognition."
The award will be presented March 23 in ceremonies at USC's Galen Center.
Smoking cessation classes planned
Norman Regional Hospital offers Tobacco Cessation classes. The Freedom from Smoking program consists of seven meetings that include educational information, counseling, and strategies to stay smoke-free.
