Fire officials investigate blaze

By Meghan McCormick

The Norman fire marshal's office is investigating a fire that damaged a trailer home Tuesday afternoon near 108th Avenue SE and State Highway 9.

Norman Fire Department Capt. Tony Atteberry said the fire was reported at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday at 10751 Starlight Drive. The location is about 3/4 mile south of the intersection of State Highway 9 and 108th Avenue SE.

Atteberry said a man and his wife were at home when the blaze broke out. Both were able to escape the structure without injury.

Atteberry said he did not have the names of the trailer's residents. The fire began on the east end of the trailer.

"The cause is under investigation by the fire marshal's office," he said.

Atteberry said the trailer sustained heat and smoke damage. No more than 30 percent of the structure burned.

He said Norman firefighters received help from the Slaughterville Fire Department in extinguishing the blaze.

"They had it under control in about 20 minutes," Atteberry said.
