Scouts plan star gazing Friday at Monroe

NORMAN — Transcript Staff

Boy Scout Troop 245 and Cub Scout Pack 224 will hold a “Summer Star Party” for star gazers from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at Monroe Elementary School’s east field, 1601 S. McGee Drive.

Participants are asked to dress as their favorite celestial object, character, legend or constellation.

Amateur Astronomers from local clubs will be available to give tours of the summer sky constellations and planets. Children must be accompanied by a parent and participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and bring flashlights.

More information is available from sponsor Eileen Grzybowski at eileeng@norman.k12.ok.us. Organizers also are looking for volunteers with telescopes to be part of the show.
