Norman — Koszara running in District 27

Cole Koszara, a machinist from McLoud, has announced he is a Democratic candidate for the Oklahoma House of Representatives in District 27. The district, currently held by state representative Shane Jett, includes parts of Pottawatomie and Cleveland counties, including the cities of Tecumseh, McLoud, Maud, Asher and Slaughterville. Jett is leaving the seat to run for U.S. Congress.

Koszara said the most important issues in Oklahoma right now are building up the state’s dilapidated infrastructure and sparking job creation.

“We deserve better than the status quo of busted roads and crumbling bridges and it is time we made fixing them a priority,” he said. “We need blue collar people serving in the Legislature who know what it’s like to work hard, and someone who knows the choices and challenges people face in their everyday lives. Someone, who will fight for good, permanent jobs for Oklahoma and who are willing to put the interest of the citizens of Oklahoma ahead of those of corporations.”

A pro-life advocate and supporter of individual gun ownership rights, Koszara said he hopes to bring the Oklahoma values of responsibility and independence back to the state house.

A lifelong Oklahoman, Koszara is the son of Oscar and Gerri Koszara. “As a proud member of the Comanche Nation and the great-grandson of Polish immigrants, I have been blessed to have been raised in a family that has called District 27 our home for generations. I’ve had the honor to have been raised, and go to school in rural Oklahoma. This has instilled in me the value of hard work.” He is a graduate of McLoud High School.

Koszara previously served as the vice chair of the Pottawatomie County Democrats.

Cole announces Town Hall meetings

U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R-Moore, will hold 10 town hall meetings over the next few weeks. Cole will be available to answer questions and address concerns about federal legislation.  Members of Cole’s staff also will be available to assist residents with federal casework.

“These town hall meetings are a great opportunity to get feedback from Fourth District residents, and I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s ideas and concerns,” Cole said. “With everything that’s going on in Washington these days, these forums play a valuable role in shaping debate. I invite everyone to participate and share their views.”

More information is available from Cole’s Norman office 329-6500 for more information about the town hall meetings. The meetings include 5:30 p.m. March 31 at the Moore Norman Technology Center, Franklin Road Campus, in Norman; noon March 30 at the Murray County Expo Center, 4000 W.
