Notes from Noble City Hall

NOBLE — City Manager Bob Wade announced the upcoming dates for Spring Cleanup and Noble’s Trash Off/Big Event. He also outlined street projects that are under way as well as some slated to begin soon.

Spring Cleanup

Noble has scheduled its annual Spring Cleanup for collecting bulky trash items. Waste Connections will pick items up at curbside during regular trash pickup days the week of April 19.

Residents with large items such as refrigerators, washers, dryers or hot water tanks may drop them off in the graveled area just south of City Hall during that week.

“We have been scheduling the city cleanup activities [prior to] the Rose Rock Festival which will begin April 30,” Wade said.

Trash Off/Big Event

April 10 is the date slated for the annual Trash Off/Big Event in which volunteers help clean up Noble. Those interested in volunteering to help clean up Noble on April 10 during the annual Trash Off/Big Event should meet at Riley Park at 9 a.m. and plan to work until noon. Local sponsors will furnish lunch.

Street projects

City crews have been clearing out the fence lines on South 48th Street from Maguire Road south to Cemetery Road. County Commissioner Rusty Sullivan has agreed to improve the one-mile section of 48th Street as soon as crews finish the cleanup.

Pending property owners’ approval, “we also are going to clear out a small section on the northeast corner of Cemetery Road and South 48th to give motorists a much better line of sight at that dangerous intersection,” Wade said.

Wade said the city will participate in a pre-construction conference with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Haskell Lemon’s paving to plan the overlay of Etowah Road stretching from Highway 77 east to 48th Street.

“This is Noble’s share of the first round of economic stimulus funds that was channeled though ACOG and ODOT,” Wade said. “A lot of good things are happening. Stay tuned.”
