Norman —
Helping teach people how to fight fat and stay healthy is something Chat Williams knows how to do. A trainer at Norman Regional Health System’s The Health Club, Williams will be taking what he knows on the road to share his knowledge.
Williams will present “Enhancing Youth Fitness and Performance through Circuits, Games, and Drills” at the National Convention & Exposition of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) through Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. .
Williams’ presentation will address childhood obesity, physical fitness and what fitness professionals can do to help the growing population of overweight children in our country.
“I’ll be using statistics and research to show these fitness experts how to help youth,” Williams said. “By providing physical educators with some tools to use, and hands on explanations of equipment, games and drills that work well for children, we can hopefully slow down what is fast becoming an epidemic of childhood obesity.”
Williams has been instrumental in the Fit Kids Club at The Health Club. The Fit Kids Club is a monthly program for fourth- and fifth- graders to work on their overall fitness, strength and conditioning, and motor skill development. The class meets Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Health Club, 3720 W. Robinson Street.
