Learn proper car seat installation

NORMAN — The Norman Police Department is partnering with Safe Kids Oklahoma to conduct free car seat installation sessions Friday.

The sessions will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Sam’s Club, 36th Avenue Southwest and West Main Street.

“Four out of five car seats are installed or used incorrectly,” stated a police press release. “Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death and injury to children under 14 years of age.”

Parents, grandparents or legal guardians will be able to learn from nationally certified technicians how to properly install and use their child’s seat. New car seats also will be available at a reduced cost of $10.

To qualify for the program:

· Bring proof of assistance (WIC, TANF, etc.).

· You must be the legal guardian of the child.

· The child must be present or within eight weeks of due date.

· Arrive in the vehicle you most often transport your child in.
