PFLAG meets Thursday

Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) Norman will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks St. The group meets the second Thursday of every month and meetings are open to the public.

"The 'don't ask, don't tell' policy has come under scrutiny again in the national conversation. In our meetings we often hear about the personal impact," a PFLAG spokesperson said. "Like the father who is angry that one son is fighting in Iraq to protect American freedoms that another son is denied because he's gay. Or a young lesbian who is eager to serve her country and further her education but worries she'll be harassed if she joins the military. Our PFLAG meetings are a place to share that hurt or confusion that affects families in their daily lives."

PFLAG has affiliates in about 500 communities in the United States and abroad. For more information, call 360-4497 or visit www.pflagnorman.org.
