Jury finds Purcell man guilty of sex crimes; sentencing today

A Cleveland County jury found a Purcell man guilty last week of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl, according to court records.

Dave Frank Cejka, 46, stood trial Feb. 2 before Judge Virgil Black. Judge Black is temporarily assigned to Cleveland County.

Court records show the jury reached a verdict Feb. 4. After deliberating almost four hours, jurors decided Cejka was guilty of lewd acts with a child, indecent proposal to a child and first-degree rape by instrumentation.

According to court papers, Cejka was taken into custody after the verdict was announced in court. Jurors recommended Cejka serve at least 200 years in prison.

He will be formally sentenced at 1 p.m. today, court records show.

Assistant District Attorneys Susan Caswell and James Siderias prosecuted Cejka. Attorney Elton Jenkins defended Cejka.
