A five and a half hour power outage in downtown Norman Monday evening is being blamed on fuses in a substation that serves downtown.
OG--E reported customers in the downtown area began losing service about 9 p.m. Monday. Most customers were back on by 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Some downtown customers and city stoplights never lost power.
OG--E spokespeson Karen Kurtz said 510 customers were affected. Most were back on in about four hours but some took more than five and a half hours.
"The problem was some fuses in a substation that serves that area of town. They are still investigating as to the true cause of the failure," Kurtz said.
The Transcript's printing presses started about three hours behind schedule.
