Stephen Link was the first to testify today in the trial of his uncle, William Eugene Davis, 52.
Davis is charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the Sept. 4, 2007, shooting deaths of his sisters Tammi Link, 52, (Stephen Link's mother), Sheila Ellis, 56, and Letannah Bishop, 87. He also faces one count of assault to kill Brent Link, Stephen Link's father.
"Without a doubt, I know it was Bill Davis," said Stephen Link during his near two-hour testimony on the second day of his uncle's trial, after describing his attempts to revive his mother and grandmother.
Gary Cuellar, friend of Stephen and Tammi Link, was the second to testify Tuesday morning.
Davis, who Link said struggles with alcohol and drug abuse, was living with Cuellar, an alcoholic who has been sober for 13 years, during the time of the murders.
Cuellar has a history of helping those with an alcohol problem. Link said he asked Cuellar if Davis could "crash" with him after Davis moved to Norman around March 2007 from New Mexico, looking for a "clean slate."
On the day of the murders, Cuellar, who has helped steer about 30 alcoholics through recovery, said he didn't notice if Davis had been drinking.
"No, I'd have said something otherwise," said Cuellar, who has three house rules for guests: No drinking, attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and find a sponsor. "Those are the rules."
