City of Norman announces Spring Clean-Up dates

Norman — The City of Norman Spring Clean-Up will start April 3 for customers with polycart service on Mondays.

For those with service on Tuesdays, it’ll be April 10; Wednesdays, April 17; Thursdays, April 24; and Fridays, May 1.

The schedule also applies to rural customers, although they need to call the Sanitation Division at 329-1023 and schedule an appointment before April 3.

Items must be out by 7:30 a.m. on the designated Saturday.

The City stressed that items for Spring Clean-Up are not to be placed at the curbs earlier than one week before the scheduled collection day. Placing items out more than a week before the pickup date could result in a City of Norman code violation and a citation.

Yard waste and brush will not be picked up as part of Spring Clean-Up. Yard waste that meets size requirements may be taken to the compost facility. Larger limbs and trunks may be taken to the Transfer Station.

Spring Clean-Up will not take remodeling or demolition debris such as broken concrete, bricks, lumber, sheetrock, shingles or junk cars. It also will not include any hazardous waste such as tires, batteries, paints and other similar items. Polycarts, wagons and wheelbarrows should not be used as containers for clean-up items.

The Transfer Station at 3901 S. Chautauqua Ave. will be open and free on these Saturdays for Norman sanitation customers who wish to haul their own trash. To prove Norman residence, take a current utility bill or have a driver’s license with a Norman address.
