Norman — A woman who suffered burns in a house explosion Sunday morning near Blanchard continues to recover from her injuries at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Tonya Sumner, 25, has been upgraded to good condition, said Brooke Cayot, Integris Baptist Medical Center spokesperson. Sumner’s father, Richard Hoff, 68, who suffered cuts and burns, remains in critical condition at the same facility.
Sumner, Hoff and Sumner’s 2-year-old daughter, Bella, were inside the home when the explosion occurred about 8 a.m. Sunday at 28755 S. Meridian Ave. The blast leveled the home, McClain County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
The three residents were airlifted to Integris Baptist Medical Center after the blast. Bella Sumner later was transported to a burn facility at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Her condition has not been released because of privacy rules.
Investigators said the blast may have been the result of a gas leak. The eruption rocked Blanchard residents and was heard as far north as central Norman.
The force from the blast scattered debris 100 feet.
