The Cleveland County Democratic Party will host its Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn, Interstate 35 and Robinson Street.
State Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland will speak on "Current Proposals for Affordable Health Insurance." Holland is the first woman elected as Insurance Commissioner in Oklahoma history.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the speaker beginning about noon. Cornbread and beans or sandwich bar with chips are $7 including tea, coffee or water, tax and gratuity. The meeting is open to the public.
Additionally, Stephen Tyler Holman of Universe City will address the Forum for Democratic Action at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pink Elephant Cafe, 301 E. Main Street.
Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. Holman is a fifth generation Norman native and a 2004 graduate of Norman High School. He is currently attending school to study political science and urban -- regional development with a focus on sustainable living and smart growth. He currently serves on the census committee for the City of Norman and attends City Council meetings regularly. He also serves as the event coordinator for Universe City, an art and music cooperative here in Norman. At the Forum, Stephen Tyler will be discussing municipal politics, revitalization efforts, and community building as pertains to Norman.
Dinner is $10, which includes a garden salad, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. There is no cost for attendance, but donations of $2 per person are recommended and gladly accepted.
