Register to vote this week

NORMAN — Friday is the last day to register in order to be eligible to vote in the General Election on Nov. 6. United States citizens and residents of Oklahoma at least 18 years old are eligible to register. Several groups have hosted voter registrations sites throughout Cleveland County as the election approaches.

Persons who have never been registered to vote before or who are not currently registered in the county of residence, and persons who are registered but need to change name, address or political affiliation can fill out and mail an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application postmarked no later than midnight Friday.

Cleveland County Election Board Secretary Jim Williams said applications received after that time will be accepted and processed, but the applications will not be approved until after Nov. 6.

The County Election Board will respond in writing to each person who submits an application for voter registration.

The response will be either a voter identification card listing the new voter’s precinct number and polling place location or a letter that explains the reason or reasons the application for voter registration was not approved.

Williams said that any person who has submitted a voter registration application and has not received a response within 30 days should contact the County Election Board Office.

Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office, 641 E. Robinson St., Suite 200, Norman, and at all tag agencies, post offices and public libraries in the county.

Applications also are available online at www.clevelandcountyelectionboard.com and at www.elections.state.ok.us.
