LAWTON — Lawton Public Schools superintendent Barry Beauchamp has been honored by Crossroads Youth and Family Services with its “Legends of Crossroads” honor.

As part of the honor, a copy of Beauchamp’s plaque will be displayed in the “Wall of Fame” at Crossroads Youth and Family Services’ administrative offices in Norman.

This is only the third time the honor has been presented – and the first time it has been presented to an educator. Beauchamp received it for “exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to community collaboration as demonstrated through the success of Beginnings Academy.”

Beginnings Academy is one of the Lawton school district’s pre-kindergarten facilities. Operating in the former Lee Elementary building, Beginnings is a collaborative program between LPS and Crossroads Youth and Family Services, Inc., which provides the community access to Head Start, a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.

Beauchamp received the honor at an “all-staff summit” sponsored by Crossroads in Norman to train and recognize nearly 275 of its staff members.
