SQ 766 more harm than good

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

The full-page recommendation to vote “yes” on State Question 766 that appeared in The Norman Transcript on Wednesday, Oct. 31, by the Norman Chamber of Commerce completely distorts the meaning of SQ 766.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled correctly on this issue in 2009.

We should vote “no” on SQ 766. By exempting intangible properties to major businesses with a “yes” vote, the cost to local governments would be huge, with losses to schools and roads and other services.

If you want to profit the majority of Oklahomans rather than corporations, vote “no” on SQ 766. Not one of the dire predictions put forth by the Norman Chamber of Commerce has come to pass since the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruling in 2009.
