Thanks to Norman Animal Control

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

I want to commend the Animal Control dispatcher and officers that assisted me in finding my two old Irish Setters that had escaped their backyard for the second time in their lives on Nov. 14. They could not have been more helpful to me. I need to thank the unknown person who notified them of my old girl that had been hit by a car at the corner of Flintridge and Manor. The Dispatcher called me to let me know that they had found them and that one of them was injured. Since I work in Oklahoma City, I told them I would arrive as quickly as possible and they offered to take the injured dog to Sooner Vet Clinic, who had taken care of her from a small puppy. A second officer then picked up the second old girl and both officers transferred my dogs to Sooner Vet Clinic for me. I cannot praise them enough for the assistance they provided.

I need to thank Don Russell and his staff for the care they provided my Champion Kenora Almond Joy and helped me make the decision to let her go as she was so badly injured.

As for the person driving the vehicle that hit her and left her, I hope you are proud of how you handled the situation. These two dogs only thought that cars were for exciting trips to dog shows and the grocery store and we learned a very powerful lesson that some people have no reverence for life.
