Foundation should help victims

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

The airing of a segment on an NBC news program recently was very alarming. It concerned the explosion that destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and the response of the community and nation to help the victims.

As in most U.S. communities that experience tragedies like this, millions of dollars were given to aid the survivors. According to the news program, millions of dollars still remain under the control of a foundation that refuses to give any money to aid some of the victims. Instead, according to the program, victims are urged to apply for aid from Medicaid.

Why should tax dollars be used for this tragedy when the arrogant foundation board sits on millions of dollars from caring citizens who felt compassion and a genuine need to help? God bless these giving individuals. God will judge the others.
