Thanks for the hard work

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

To: Chief Keith Humphrey, Norman Police Department

Dear Chief: Returning from the State Capitol on Monday afternoon, we found ourselves stopped in traffic on Interstate 35 near the Tecumseh Road exit.

Later, we learned that this one of many actions taken by our Norman Police Department and other law enforcement to protect our community while searching for escaped prisoners.

Tuesday’s issue of The Norman Transcript revealed the extent of NPD’s exceptional police work to protect children and staff at Whittier Middle School and many residents in west Norman. The good work of our police department brought the episode to a successful conclusion with no loss of life and without any hostages.

The event ended as a local news story and not a story on national news.

While we are grateful to all the men and women of NPD, we are especially grateful to Officer Lance Harper and his K-9 partner Remco. They put their lives directly on the line and brought the event to an end without a shot being fired.
