Hospitality takes sting out of delay

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

On Christmas Eve my friend and I were traveling back to Omaha, Nebraska from San Antonio/Austin, Texas on Interstate I-35 North when we encountered the Oklahoma blizzard. Due to an accident we were delayed on the Interstate for approximately six hours and then forced to spend the night and Christmas Day in Norman.

During that time we encountered so many wonderful acts of kindness from the motel clerks to the only eating place in Norman off I-35, Exit 110, and when we got stuck in the snow three different cars stopped and people tried to get us out of the ditch. What a wonderful group of caring people you have in Oklahoma. It really showed the spirit of the season.

Then two of your finest police officers stopped in a pickup truck and after many tries were successful in getting our car out of the ditch. These officers were kind, caring and professional, and eagerly helped us.

For these things we wanted to let the wonderful people we encountered to know that they really made a terrible situation very tolerable and we will be forever grateful for their kindness.
