Town honors Cleveland

NORMAN — Slaughterville Mayor Bobby Cleveland, recently elected to the state House of Representatives, has resigned as a trustee and mayor.

The town of Slaughterville recently recognized Cleveland’s contributions with a resolution in which trustees acknowledged “the fine work and voluntary service” he “contributed to the Town of Slaughterville during his tenure as town trustee and mayor.”

The resolution also recognized Cleveland for his exemplary leadership qualities and service to the town.

Marsha Blair, Slaughterville town administrator, explained that Slaughterville residents elect five trustees. In turn, the trustees elect a mayor.

“This group is the nicest bunch of individuals that I have ever had the opportunity to work with,” Cleveland said in an email statement.

“We appreciated all the work that Bobby did and we know he’ll do a good job serving the citizens as a state representative,” Blair said.

Slaughterville’s new mayor is Curtis Baker. He will serve until April when municipal elections are held, Blair said. John Koehler was elected as trustee to fill Cleveland’s position.
