NORMAN — All elementary school students (new and pre-enrolled) in the Norman Public Schools must have enrollment confirmed.
Parents can go to their child’s elementary school from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday or Tuesday to confirm enrollment.
For pre-enrolled (returning) students, bring two proofs of residency and your child’s immunization record, if it has been updated within the last year.
Confirmation is held on these early dates in August to enable the district to determine class size and consider needs for additional staff, gather address changes for bus schedules and act on pending transfers.
All elementary schools will hold Back-to-School Night 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17. All parents and students are encouraged to attend and meet their teacher for the coming year.
This event is the traditional welcome back for returning students and get acquainted event for students who are new to Norman Public Schools.
Enrollment and registration will be held at all middle schools on Aug. 4 and 5.
Enrollment days are organized by the student’s grade classification:
· 8th grade — 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4
· 7th grade — 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4
· 6th grade — 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5
Make-up enrollment for all grades is 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 5.
Camp Turning Points for all incoming sixth-graders will take place Aug. 7. A collaborative effort of NPS and the community, the camp is designed to familiarize students with middle school experiences and develop a sense of self-assurance as they embark on this stage of their school career.
Students are encouraged to register Aug. 5 at their enrollment or on the morning of Aug. 7.
Enrollment and registration will be held at all high schools during the work week beginning Monday through Aug. 10. Enrollment times are organized by each student’s grade classification and last name.
Early August enrollment and registration enables the schools to balance class sizes, gather address changes for transportation schedules and act on pending transfer requests before Back to School Night.
