Center for Children adding new service

NORMAN — Katie Fitzgerald, director of the Center for Children and Families, will address Sooner Rotary on Tuesday and is expected to reveal a new service the organization plans to offer.

The Rotary address will be 7 a.m. Tuesday at Golden Corral.

Fitzgerald will discuss child abuse and neglect in the community and how preventing abuse will improve the community’s overall health.

She will talk about how the organziation addresses the issue and ways the community, including rotary members, can make a difference.

The presentation will include information about the organization’s Next Generation Project, an organizational development project designed to ensure the community is meeting the needs of its children and families.

CCFI’s work is guided by a belief in the right of all children to be safe, nurtured and loved to reach their full potential, according to a news release from Sooner Rotary. Although seemingly insurmountable obstacles are sometimes placed in their way, children’s resilience — combined with the support of caring adults — can make anything possible.

Fitzgerald is scheduled to reveal a new service from CCFI and educate the club on what the organization has to offer.
