NORMAN — Cleveland County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) — serving Cleveland, McClain and Garvin counties — is in need of child advocate volunteers.
The group has dedicated people speaking up for the best interests of about 100 abused and neglected children in the community. However, more advocates are needed.
The next volunteer advocate training session is scheduled to begin with a volunteer orientation class at 5:30 p.m. April 2 at the Norman Regional Health System Education Center, 901 N. Porter Ave. CASA training is free to the public.
Training takes about 30 hours and includes juvenile court docket observation. Sessions last about two to two-and-a-half hours. Participants may register via email to Suzanne@clevelandcountycasa.org or by calling the CASA office at 360-5295.
