Event to help CART assistant director

NORMAN — A non-profit fundraising run Saturday in Ardmore will benefit CART’s assistant director, who is currently battling esophageal cancer.

A native of Lone Grove, 35-year-old Cody Ponder was promoted to assistant director in February and has been a Norman resident for more than 10 years.

The event will include a one-mile fun run and a 5K beginning at Ardmore Regional Park Pavilion in Ardmore, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively. Registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each age division, with top runners overall receiving special prizes.

Registration fee is $25. T-shirts are available while supplies last.

Donations and sponsorships can be mailed to: “Cody’s Run,” 1108 K St. NW, Ardmore, OK 73401, dropped off at Carter County OSU Extension and Designing Divas Salon in Ardmore or direct deposited into the “Cody’s Run” account at any of the three branches of First Bank & Trust in Ardmore and branches in Healdton, Waurika, Duncan and Norman.
