Dateline — • Fourth of eight forums set Thursday
The City of Norman will host the fourth of eight public forums on sustainable water resources 6 p.m. Thursday in Council Chambers at City Hall, 201 W. Gray St. The topic will be the role of Lake Thunderbird in Norman’s water supply and the operation of the reservoir by the Central Oklahoma Master Conservancy District (COMCD).
There will be discussion regarding Lake Thunderbird — who owns it, who manages it — as well as the watershed. The Bureau of Reclamation will discuss how much sustainable water is available and options for augmenting or adding water from an external source to the lake.
All residents of Norman are invited to attend and explore long-term solutions for the city’s drinking water needs. The public forums are open to everyone with an interest in water and Norman’s future.
The forums will be broadcast live on Channel 20 and rebroadcast periodically throughout the series. Each of the eight forums is open to all, but the city encourages residents’ commitment to attend as many meetings as possible in order to gain full understanding of Norman’s water needs and future.
To reserve a place at the meetings, call the City of Norman Utilities Department at 366-5443. Informational packets regarding each meeting will be provided.
