Black History Month discussion planned

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — The Norman Public Library explores the convergence of art and literature at its Art Walk Culture Talk, set for 6 p.m. Friday at the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

The event is part of the Norman Arts Council’s 2nd Friday Circuit of Art presentations.

Dr. Rita Keresztesi, professor at the University of Oklahoma, will be the featured lecturer, with this month taking on a Black History Month theme.

The Art Walk Culture Talks will be a monthly feature, highlighting aspects of the library’s collection and tying them in to local and global culture.

Registration is not required to attend.

Romance book sale

The Friends of the Norman Library’s annual Romance Book Sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Lowry Room at the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

Hardbacks, large paperbacks and videos are priced at $1. Small paperbacks are 50 cents. Collectibles and better books are priced individually.

Book sale proceeds are used to provide the Norman Public Library with funds for programs, materials, equipment and books that are not funded through other sources.

The Friends of the Norman Library seeks donations of good quality used romance novels, videos or nonfiction books with a topic of romance or love. Donated books and materials should be taken to the Sorting Center at 226 W. Gray St. on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
