Big Brothers Big Sisters to host Big Taste Aug. 12

NORMAN — Big Brothers Big Sisters wants you to get your tastebuds ready.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, Cleveland County Office, will celebrate the third annual Big Taste Aug. 12 at Belmar Golf and Country Club with the theme, Denim and Diamonds.

Toby Rowland, Emmy award winning sportscaster for KWTV, will be the celebrity emcee for the evening. Rowland also is a Sports Talk 1400 AM radio personality, and the sideline reporter for The University of Oklahoma, proceeds from the event will go toward matching more children in the Norman area with positive adult mentors. Currently, BBBS Cleveland County has a waiting list of 80 children waiting to be matched.

The Big Taste will feature the cuisine of Norman restaurants, live entertainment will be provided by Bobby Marquez, and auction items. Participating restaurants include: Blu Fine Wine & Food, Belmar, Café Plaid, Cha Cha’s Grille y Cantina, Fancy That, Iron Starr Urban Barbeque, La Baguette, Legend’s, McNellie’s, ‘O’ Asian Fusion, Othello’s, Pink Elephant Café, and Royal Bavaria. University Liquor also is a main taste sponsor.

Individual tickets are $75 and sponsor tables are also available. Sponsor tables will offer extra benefits for the evening, including beverage tickets, advertising and statewide acknowledgment. To purchase a table or individual tickets, call 364-3722. After Aug. 6, tickets and reservations will be sold as available. Last year’s Big Taste event attracted more than 200 attendees, and BBBS-Cleveland County hopes to match or exceed this attendance.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, Cleveland County Office, is a United Way of Norman partner agency dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children and youth through a professionally guided one-to-one relationship with a caring adult.
