NORMAN — Enrollment is open for the Norman Children’s Chorus, a non-profit community choir for children with unchanged voices.

The choir is open to children in third through eighth grades and the final auditions for the season will be held in August. Rehearsals begin Sept.13.

Norman Children’s Chorus, now in its 19th year, seeks to provide children with the opportunity to sing quality choral music in a community setting, to further the children’s vocal development and their musicianship skills and to provide the community with the opportunity to hear a variety of traditional and contemporary choral music sung by children.

Artistic Director is Sandy Knudson, music teacher at Adams Elementary School and a Kodaly specialist. Knudson is returning for her 16th year with NCC. She holds a masters of music education degree from the University of Oklahoma and is on the summer faculty of OU where she teaches vocal music methods. Lynn Manning, music specialist in the Moore public schools, serves as associate conductor.

The choir meets 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Alcott Middle School. Tuition is $100 per semester and financial aid is available based on need. Two concerts are planned for the school year, in addition to various community performances and a spring festival featuring a guest conductor. The chorus is funded in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.

For more information or to schedule an audition, call Tracy Day Kemper, chorus manager, at 740-9805.
