NAIC to sponsor training class

Transcript Staff The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — “Problem or Pathological Gambling as a Co-Occurring Disorder” is the focus of training sponsored by Norman Addiction Information and Counseling from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Nov. 9 at 215 W. Linn St.

Participants will learn how to recognize gambling dynamics during an alcohol and other drug assessment or other mental health assessment and how to provide appropriate services.

Trainers are Wiley Harwell, licensed professional counselor and executive director of Oklahoma Association for Problem & Compulsive Gambling; Doug Richardson, licensed alcohol and drug counselor at NAIC; and Gail Wilcox, licensed alcohol and drug Counselor at NAIC. 

The early bird registration is $45 through Friday. After that, registration will be $55.

Three continuing education units are approved for licensed alcohol drug counselors, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, and certified alcohol and drug counselors and are pending for certified prevention specialists.
