The Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women has announced the topic for its 2009-2010 essay contest as "Oklahoma's Role in Aerospace-Past and Future."
The annual OFRW contest is open to all seventh and eighth grade students in the state of Oklahoma, including those who are home-schooled.
Entries must be no more than 500 words in length and either legibly handwritten or typed. The deadline for submitting essays to the local OFRW club is Dec. 4.
Local OFRW clubs select three winners and three honorable mention essays then they go to the district and state levels. The first, second and third place winners and three honorable mention essays will be included in the Anthology of Essays published yearly by the OFRW.
U.S. Savings Bonds will be awarded for the top six essays at the state level during the spring essay luncheon, to which the winning students, parents and teachers are invited.
