Hartman family reunion
Longtime residents of Cleveland County, the Hartman family celebrated with a family reunion Oct. 3.
The family had not been together for a gathering like this for about 20 years. The gathering of about 80 brought together the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren of Frank and Estes Hartman, now deceased.
Surviving siblings in attendance were Ellen Jones, Earl Hartman, Roy Hartman, all of Norman, and Joyce Teel of Lawton. The gathering brought back memories of the past with stories, documents, artifacts, and old photos.
The family traces its U.S. heritage to 1884 when the Father and Mother of Frank Hartman emigrated to the U.S. from the Czech Republic of Eastern Europe. In 1897, Frank's parents Jacob and Josephine Hartman purchased a farm east of Noble, of that quarter section the children and grandchildren of the family still own a considerable acreage today, with one grandson living on the farm.
The family has been able to trace its roots to Johann Hartman of Sumvald in the Czech Republic of Eastern Europe born in 1762.
The family looks forward in having another reunion, maybe next year.
