AARP driver safety program offered

Transcript Staff

AARP, in partnership with the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church of Norman, has scheduled a driver safety program at the Family Life Center, 300 W. Comanche St., on Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day.

AARP developed the program to help Americans ages 50 and over avoid automobile accidents and the injuries resulting from them. The program consists of eight hours of classroom instruction, audio-visual presentations, and student discussion.

While the course is designed especially for those 50 years of age and older, it is open to drivers of any age and will be beneficial for all Oklahoma drivers.

Oklahomans who complete the course will receive a certificate for presentation to automobile insurers which will result in a reduction in automobile insurance premiums according to state law. While discounts vary among insurance providers, all companies that provide automobile insurance in Oklahoma must give their customers a premium reduction.

Cost for the class is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.

For more information and to register for the class, call 360-5300. Registration may be done by phone or in person; however, advance payment of class fees is required to confirm registrations.
