Legion to host dinner for vets

NORMAN — American Legion Post 88 of Norman will host World War II veterans at a dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 8.

The Post has more than 80 members who fought during WWII. Any WWII veteran, widow or family member is welcome to attend. The Post would appreciate R.S.V.P.s by Saturday. Small children are encouraged not to attend.

“Last year’s dinner for the veterans of WWII was a real success. We decided to do it again to specially honor these veterans of a war in which millions of Americans served; and preserved and won freedom for us and many in the world,” Post Commander Ernie Martin said. “Each attending veteran will be given a special WWII coin to honor their service.”

Oklahoma Adj. Gen. Myles Deering and 45th Infantry Brigade Deputy Commander, Col. Mark Depew, are scheduled to speak to the group.

R.S.V.P. by calling Commander Martin at 527-8498; Don Schulenberg at 615-7813; Bob Culbert at 306-7111 or Abel Dominquez at 202-0107.
