Cleveland County 4-Hers are big winners at annual awards banquet

The Cleveland County 4-H recently held its annual awards program. "Transforming the World through 4-H?" was the theme.

Awards were given by several local donors. Kerr Team of Old Town Brokers sponsored the Honorary 4-H Member award which was given to Roger Carter for his dedication to the Cleveland County 4-H program.

Billy and Lisa Griffin received the Friends of 4-H award sponsored by the 4-H Foundation and McClain Bank represented by bank vice president Jackie Listen. Cleveland County Farmers Union sponsored a plaque honoring the outstanding 4-H clubs which were given to the Clover People Jr. and Sr., Trailblazers and the Heart 4-H clubs.

Dale and Billie West recognized the top two Cleveland County 4-H Fair exhibitors with a 4-H jacket. The recipients were Erin McGinnis of Little Axe and Emily Morrow of Norman.

Miranda Meadows, McGinnis, Jessica Morrow, Emily Morrow, Jake Patton and Woody Armstrong received the Healthy Living Incentive awards sponsored by the Bragg family.

Hannah Burke, Johnna Fipps, Travis Grayson, Gracie Jonas, Jennifer Jones, Rebekah Link, Susanna Magruder, Blake Malone, Meadows, Jessica Morrow and Cole Wartchow received Public Speaking awards by the Daugherty family.

Rebeka Link, Noble 4-H, junior division; Laura Gipson, Circle C, intermediate division; and Haley Armstrong, Heart 4-H, senior division; all received the Animal Science award by Gene and Judy McKown.

Julie Armstrong of Lexington 4-H received the peanut award sponsored by the Oklahoma Peanut Commission.

The Special Project Awards are presented to 4-H members who have excelled in a project area during the past year. These awards began with the 4-H Agriculture awards which are sponsored by Ronnie and Becky Heitz and were received by Jacob Hyde, Lexington 4-H; McCauley Rhoads, Lexington 4-H; Coy Pfeiffer, Lexington 4-H; and Kylie Stowers, Trailblazers.

Personal Development awards, sponsored by Carl and Mary Sue Sanders, were presented to Addie Jackson, Heart 4-H and Julia Bagley 4-H Paws.

Family -- Consumer Science awards, sponsored by Michelle Overstreet, were received by Patrick Schrank Clover People Jr. 4-H; Erin McGinnis, Little Axe; Wooby Armstrong, Heart 4-H and Julie Bragg Clover People Sr. 4-H.

Emily Morrow, Heart 4-H received the Conservation of Natural Resources award by Burns -- Stowers PC.

The Focus Area Awards recognize work completed by members in each of the state 4-H program areas. Kristi Armstrong, Lexington 4-H, received the Health and Wellness award given by Walt and Isobel Knoepfli.

Kylie Stowers, Trailblazers 4-H, received the Family Strengths award by Ellie Sutter. Emily Morrow, Heart 4-H, was the winner of the Conservation of Natural Resources and Environmental Awareness Award sponsored by Joann Oliver. The Science and Technology Award, sponsored by the Coulter family, was awarded to Wooby Armstrong, Heart 4-H.

Several 4-Hers received gate signs sponsored by the Mappes family. Individual club medals were sponsored by Vernon and Gene McKown of Ideal Homes and L.O. Harrington of Farmer's Insurance.

The William J. Danforth award went to Aerial Smith and Coy Pfeiffer, both of Lexington 4-H. Julie Bragg of Clover People Sr. was awarded the Patsy Hansmeyer Memorial award which was sponsored by the Mappes family.

The Jewell Griffin Memorial award, sponsored by Judy McKown, recognizes a senior 4-Her who wins first place on their state record book. Aerial Smith was awarded this honor for her swine book.

The Dick Griffin Memorial Award is sponsored by Vernon and Rhonda Chapman McKown and recognizes county 4-Hers who place first with their level II state record books. This year's winner was Kylie Stowers for her Leadership record book.

Julie Bragg of Norman won the Blue award for her senior record book, sponsored by Vernon and Rhonda Chapman McKown.

Jerry and Elizabeth Loeffelholz sponsored the 4-H Volunteer of the Year award which was given to Sue Armstrong of the Heart 4-H Club.

The Lifetime Volunteer award for Cleveland County sponsored by Sam and Glenna Gibson Ott was presented to Marilyn Marshall for her many years of 4-H service.

Junior Record Book awards, sponsored by Rhonda and Neal Hall and Rusty and Randy Heitz, were given to first year, Jacob Hyde and Susanna Magruder; second year, Patrick Schrank and Jessica Morrow; third year, Julia Bagley and Erin McGinnis; fourth year, Wooby Armstrong and Sarah Hake; and fifth year, Lauren Schrank.

The New Hope Home and Community Education club sponsored a $50 savings bond and certificate which was awarded to Outstanding Junior members Patrick Schrank, Wooby Armstrong, Julia Bagley and Lauren Schrank.

The Key Club award was given to Kristi Armstrong. Coy Pfeiffer, Lexington 4-H, received a pair of Justin Ropers boots for his Sr. Record Book by Lynn and Bonita Laske. Cleveland County Farm Bureau agent Darrell David sponsored the Senior Achievement award and the recipients were Haley Armstrong and Emily Morrow.

Kristi Armstrong and Kylie Stowers were the recipients of the Hopewell Home and Community Education club's Senior Citizenship and Leadership awards.

Kristi Armstrong and Aerial Smith, both of Lexington 4-H, received the 2007-2008 Hall of Fame award.
