The Assistance League of Norman has been awarded an Oklahoma Initiative Fund grant from Communities Foundation of Oklahoma. One of 20 Oklahoma organizations to receive a grant, ALN will purchase additional clothing and supplies for the Operation School Bell program.
Operation School Bell helps supply clothing, shoes, coats and supplies for nearly 1,200 needy children from the Norman and Little Axe public school districts. ALN members work as a personal shopping assistant for each student as they shop in a retail-like environment.
The grant allows the group to extend the program for an extra week during the winter/spring session for up to 100 additional children.
The Oklahoma Initiative Fund is an unrestricted fund that addresses a broad range of current and future needs across the state as determined each year by the CFO Grants Committee.
Communities Foundation of Oklahoma is a statewide community foundation with the mission of serving donors and charities of non-metropolitan area communities. Managed by Foundation Management Inc., CFO manages more than 300 funds including The Norman Community Foundation, Women's Foundation of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust.
