Many families have heirlooms such as quilts or wedding gowns or family history in the form of letters or documents they wish to preserve.
Those who are at a loss on how to safely store or display Grandma's quilt, or need tips on preserving historic documents, can attend Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History's workshop, "Caring for Your Family Treasures" -- a popular adult program scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Victoria Book, the museum's conservator, will lead the workshop. She is experienced in conservation treatment and preventative conservation methods.
Participants will practice techniques they easily can do at home to care for their own treasures. Barney Gibbs, preservation framer, will discuss framing sensitive documents.
Cost of the workshop is $15 for museum members and $25 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required.
