Delta Kappa Gamma holds state convention in Norman

NORMAN — Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for Key Women Educators recently held the 78th Gamma State Convention in Norman. Members attending from the local Eta Chapter included Susan Dobry, outgoing president; Dr. Rhonda Harris Taylor; incoming president; Judith Black, Lorraine Provine and Dr. Martha Griffith.

The annual Annie Awards were presented to Oklahoma Authors, Kim Donner for “On a Road to Africa” and Marcia Preston for “Trudy’s Promise.”

Student Essay Award winners for 2010 included Marchie Holbert, Fort Supply; Kayleigh Holder, Lawton; Jenna Anne Ryan, Yukon; and Megan Wright, Ada.

Member and non-member scholarship recipients included Glenda Feiesen, Harriet Weber, Linda Gunsaulis, Janice Jobey and Jennifer Mankins.

Special recognition honored members with 40 to 50 years or longer in the society. They included Wynema Caswell, Gwen Payne, Loritta Baxter, Beth Jackson, Diana Gray, Hazel Cole and Pat Allen.
