NORMAN — The Norman Public Library is getting local gardeners ready for the spring season at a Garden Workshop, set for 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Lowry Room of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.
Local gardening expert Dr. Norm Park will lead the program, which will focus on the process of starting successful vegetable and flower gardens from seeds.
Also presenting is Chris Ward, education director at the Cleveland County Conservation District, who will provide a presentation on water saving techniques in the garden. She will discuss topics such as use of compost and rain barrels to tips and tricks for using grey water, as well as leading discussion of other water saving tips that attendees have found useful.
The workshop will feature a seed swap at its conclusion for trading between participants, or to pick up seeds donated by local seed stores.
All attendees to the workshop also are eligible for a drawing to win a rain barrel. The person whose name is drawn must be present to win.
