Winners of CSBI chili cook-off announced

NORMAN — Judges and chili-eaters alike proclaimed Terry Martin from Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma the winner of CSBI’s 2012 Chili Cook-Off. Prizes were awarded in three categories.

Martin was the winner in two of those categories: Best Agency Chili Entry and People’s Choice Chili Entry. A panel of judges selects the winners in the Best Agency and Best Individual Entry Categories. Former CSBI Director Becky Aguilar was the winner in the Best Individual Category. Individuals who attended the cook-off and tasted the chili entries selected the People’s Choice winner.

The CSBI Chili Cook-Off was designed to raise funds and awareness for the building that houses 21 social services agencies. Nearly $4,000 was raised at the cook-off. The funds will be used to off-set the cost of two major projects taking place at the facility. Soffitt, fascia and guttering are being replaced on 650 linear feet at the south end of the building and one of the boilers that provides heat for the facility also is being replaced.

“Thank you to all who contributed,” said Christi Moore, executive director at CSBI. “We appreciate those who made cash donations, those who donated silent auction items and those who came for a bowl of chili.”
