Entries sought for May Fair’s Student Art Show

Norman — The Assistance League of Norman is seeking entries from young artists in Norman for its Student Art Show, part of the 36th edition of the May Fair Arts Festival April 30 to May 2 at Andrews Park.

Entry forms were distributed in Norman elementary and middle schools and also are available at the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave., or they can be downloaded at www.normanassistanceleague.org.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade may enter the show. Their entries must be original art and be completed by the student within the past year. No group projects of the same composition will be accepted.

Artwork must be matted or backed by cardboard to allow it to be affixed to display panels. Only two-dimensional, flat art in any medium with a maximum size of 16 by 20 inches, including the matte, will be accepted. Framed or canvassed art is not eligible, and the art must have a label attached to the front with the participant’s name and contact information on the back.

Entries need to be delivered to the ALN Chapter House, 809 Wall St., from 3 to 5 p.m. April 21 or 22. No late entries will be accepted.

The pieces will be displayed during all three days of May Fair. The winning entry in each age group will receive a $50 U.S. savings bond, with second- and third-place finishers to receive certificates.

All winners must attend an awards ceremony 4 p.m. Sunday. They may pick up their artwork at that time.

All other art may be picked up at the tent during fair hours or 3 to 5 p.m. May 5 at the ALN Building.

For more information, e-mail Susan Raley, ALN Student Art Chairman, at alnmfsa10@live.com.
