Students featured in juried art show

Norman — The University of Oklahoma School of Art and Art History hosts its 96th annual Students’ Exhibition Monday through April 9. A free public reception is planned 6-10 p.m. March 26 with awards to be announced at 7 p.m. The event also features live music at 8 p.m., from the Ivan Peña Trio.

The juried show highlights diverse works created by art and art history students from the University of Oklahoma. Multiple awards with cash prizes are presented to students. The top award, the T.G. Mays Purchase Award is offered to a student whose work of art becomes a part of The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art’s permanent collection.

This year, due to renovations at the museum, the exhibition will be presented in the Lightwell Gallery. In addition to the opening, the exhibition will be a featured stop on the Norman Gallery Association's Second Friday Circuit of Art from 6-8 p.m. April 9.

The Lightwell Gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Fred Jones Art Center, 520 Parrington Oval. For special accommodations, call the School of Art and Art History at 325-2691 or go online to art.ou.edu/
