NORMAN — The live music scene in Norman is growing and thriving, thanks in part to the fifth Norman Music Festival that began Thursday and continues through tonight on Main Street downtown.
Multiple outdoor stages and some scattered indoor venues are leading organizations to estimate 50,000 music fans will come to Norman during the three-day run. It brings in nationally and internationally known talent and showcases some homegrown musicians.
“That’s what this whole thing is about. Norman has an incredible music scene. And it’s not just because of the college,” NMF chairman Steven White told Transcript entertainment writer Hannah Cruz. “There’s a lot of locals and people in the community who are great musicians and people who love live music.”
Parking may be a problem. County lots, church lots and some streets a few blocks away may be the only option. If the weather cooperates — and we think it will this year — lots on the north side of the OU campus may be a good bet and just a few blocks away.
