Let’s toast: Lindsey reopens

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — The long-awaited reopening of Lindsey Street on the south side of the OU campus is worth celebrating. It came Wednesday afternoon and followed reports in August that the street would not likely be open for Saturday’s home football opener.

Tailgaters were growing worried about returning to their usual spots along Lindsey Street, just west of Jenkins Avenue. They’ll be out there early today, staking out prime spots. A 6 p.m. kick-off makes for a full day of tail-gating.

The opening will take some congestion off of Boyd Street. Traffic tends to migrate when roads close. Lindsey was one of two major east-west Norman arteries to have construction work going on.

The other is the Robinson Street railroad underpass project. That work has already caused many of us to take alternate routes when traveling across Norman.
