A holiday concert tradition

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — It only happens on the Saturday before Christmas but Betty Sullivan promotes the family’s benefit concert year round. She tells the story of handing a concert program to a Norman policeman and asked him if he knew about the beneficiary, the Norman Women’s Resource Center.

The officer said he knew all about the Women’s Resource Center. “Before they were here, we had no place to take women and children,” he told her, noting the role the non-profit plays in Norman.

That’s the message Mrs. Sullivan and four generations of her singing family will impart tonight at the 7 p.m. concert at Catlett Center, 500 W. Boyd. There are no tickets to purchase but concert organizers will pass the hat and accept donations for the center.

The concert, now in its 19th year, has become a big part of Norman holiday traditions. We’ll see you there.
