NORMAN — Success is contagious. It’s even more contagious when it’s next door. The Norman Chamber of Commerce this week will feature Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett talking about the 20-year history of the MAPS program.
The spillover to Norman from MAPS’ success is hard to quantify. But chamber officials know the program has helped grow the economy of central Oklahoma.
Could such a program be launched in Norman? Many community leaders have discussed their vision of giving voters a list of community enrichment and lifestyle amenities.
Oklahoma City’s MAPS programs have benefited both schools, the arts, sports and infrastructure. Local leaders have suggested a new library, an indoor swimming complex and parks projects.
Friday’s luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the National Center for Employee Development. Reservations are required. Contact the chamber at 321-7260.
