Police pursuit ends in head-on collision

NORMAN — Five individuals were involved in a head-on collision Saturday morning after a vehicle veered off lane during a car chase with the Norman Police Department.

The vehicle pursuit began around 10:30 a.m. originating in the area of 24th Avenue SE and Imhoff Road. While traveling north on Classen Boulevard, police officials said the suspect vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, traveled left of center crashing into a southbound 2008 Chrysler Town and County van.

The collision occurred on Classen Boulevard south of 12th Avenue SE. All involved persons were transported to Norman Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Charles Holbert II, age 35 of Norman. Passengers in the Chevrolet were Sarah Williams, 29, and Jennifer Jones, 23, both of Norman.

The driver of the Chrysler has been identified as Michael Kihega, age 35 of Norman. The passenger in the Chrysler has been identified as an 11-year-old female from Norman.

Holbert has been arrested with pending drug and pursuit related charges. Williams has also been arrested with pending drug related charges.

During the collision investigation, Classen Boulevard, between 12th Avenue SE and Constitution Street, was closed for an extended period of time.

The collision remains under investigation.
