Charge filed in shooting

NORMAN — A Norman woman was arrested Wednesday morning on felony assault and battery with a deadly weapon charges stemming from a shooting this past month, court records showed today.

Virginia Ruth Davis, 47, allegedly shot Lisa Nardine, 40, in the neck Oct. 9, according to an affidavit filed with the charge. Nardine’s injury was not life threatening, according to police.

Nardine was sitting in the driver’s seat of her truck that was stopped in the middle of the intersection at Peters Avenue and Johnson Street when police responded to the assault call around 10 p.m. Oct. 9.

The affidavit stated Nardine parked her pickup in an empty driveway near her boyfriend and Davis’ home on East Johnson Street the night of Oct. 9 to get money for beer and cigarettes. She believed her boyfriend was inside with his wife, Davis, so she recruited their friend to go to the door of the home to get the money.

“While waiting, the victim saw the defendant (who she has known for one year), approach her pickup, raise a pistol and shoot her through the closed window of the pickup’s driver’s side door,” the affidavit said.

It was then that Nardine pulled her pickup out of the driveway and into the intersection of Peters Avenue and Johnson Street, where she came to a stop and sounded the horn until a passerby arrived, the document stated.

Davis’ bond is set at $10,000 and her case was assigned to District Judge Lori Walkley.
