Shooting apparently accidental

NORMAN — Norman police are investigating a shooting that appears to be accidental, police said.

Norman Police Capt. Tom Easley said the shooting was reported at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Village Drive. Along with police, Norman firefighters and EMSStat paramedics responded to the scene.

Easley said a preliminary investigation indicates that two teenagers, who are related, were involved as the person who discharged the gun and the victim. EMSStat paramedics took the victim to Norman Regional Hospital.

The teenager’s injuries were non-life threatening, Easley said. The victim was listed in stable condition Tuesday at the hospital.

He said detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division are interviewing witnesses and the teenager who discharged the gun. The victim’s condition was not available Tuesday.
